Was ist eine Hexe?<\/strong><\/p>

\u201eSobald eine Frau dem Teufel geh\u00f6rt und in seinen Diensten mit zauberischen Mitteln Unheil stiftet, ist sie eine Hexe oder H\u00e4gsche. Althochdeutsch wird sie Hagzisse, altniederdeutsch Hagedisse genannt. Hans Peter D\u00fcrr nennt sie Hagazussa, \u201edie auf dem Zaun zwischen Wildnis und Zivilisation Sitzende\u201c. Die Hagedissen waren wohl Priesterinnen des \u201eHeiligen Hags\u201c oder Idisen, vielleicht sogar den Walk\u00fcren verwandte Waldg\u00f6ttinnen. Da der altgermanische Glaube nach der Christianisierung weiterlebte, wurden alte Frauen, die die \u00fcberlieferten Br\u00e4uche \u2013 alte Zauber-, Heil- und Weihespr\u00fcche \u2013 bewahrten und aus\u00fcbten, der Zauberei und der Buhlschaft mit dem Teufel verd\u00e4chtigt. Vermeintliche Hexen, aber auch m\u00e4nnliche Zauberer, wurden vom Mittelalter bis ins sp\u00e4te 17. Jh. verfolgt, angeklagt und in Schauprozessen verurteilt.<\/p>
